(Tucson, AZ – November 15, 2006) – The public is invited to Arizona's only LGBT theater company in a holiday production of "A Queer Carol", by Joe Godfrey. The show puts a uniquely gay twist on the Dickens classic and stars Tucson's "Black Cat", Ajia Simone as the Ghost of Christmas Present.


The show opens Thursday, December 7 at the newly renovated Hollywood Cabaret Theatre, at 1601 N. Oracle Rd. (in the Vagabond Plaza Hotel, north of Drachman St.). The December 15 show will benefit Wingspan; the audience is invited to the cast party at the adjoining Hollywood Bar immediately after the show.

The Alternative Theatre Company is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and Arizona's only LBGT theater company. Founded in 1991 by Joe W. Marshall, ATC produces only gay and lesbian themed shows. Recently relocated from Phoenix, the Company just closed "Dirty Secrets"; their second Tucson production. A full season is planned for 2007. About Joe W. Marshall: A graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City's summer program, Joe Marshall continued his education at Arizona Technical Institute, graduating with an F.C.C. License in Broadcast Communication. Joe has appeared as an actor in more than 35 shows and three films, including the movie "Postcards from America" and a national tour of the play "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Joe has directed and choreographed more than thirty award-winning productions. He also was the Director of Children's Programming at Theatre Works for two years, winning five People's Choice awards. He is the founder and artistic director for the Alternative Theatre Company, Arizona's only gay and lesbian theatre, where he teaches acting classes. He has produced and written seven plays that premiered in Phoenix, Arizona. His play "A Night in Vegas" received two AriZoni awards: Best Original Script and Best Overall Production.
